Proofs for a reprint of the memoirs. Includes correspondence between Donald Shanks, a distant relative to the Chauncy family, and Jim Lowden, of Lowden Publishing, regarding the proposed reprint. Mrs Chauncy was Philip Chauncy's wife and Mrs Poole his sister. Also included, a small photo of Philip Chauncy and several photos of survey maps of Mount Ida and a print depicting the Survey Office, Heathcote, where the Chauncy family lived for a number of years.

Philip Lamothe Snell Chauncy, sketcher, amateur photographer and surveyor, was born 21 June 1816 in England at Datchet, Bucks. He arrived in South Australia in 1839, went to Swan River, and was appointed assistant Surveyor at Perth in 1841. In 1853, he went to Victoria, and was appointed District Surveyor of Heathcote.
